2. What do you do?
I am a full time entrepreneur. I design jewelry and accessories, and throw events as well.
3. What motivates you?
As far as my design business, I am motivated by my desire to work for myself and not have to rely on anyone else for a paycheck. As far as the events i throw, I am motivated by my desire to help create change.
4. How do you balance between your career, side hustles, and your social life?
Well my career and side hustle are basically one and the same. It can be difficult at times to balance between my social life and work, because when you work for yourself, it's easy not to work and instead always socialize. There's nobody holding you accountable but you. Generally, I just try to go out when I feel like I’ve “earned” it. It’s much easier to turn down social invites and stay focused during the winter months though lol.
5. What does Professional Homegirl means to you?
To me, Professional Homegirl means I’m about my business but I’m also still down to earth and like to have fun. I’m still very much connected to my culture and the real me. You don’t have to fit the societal norm of a “professional”.
6.What advice would you give to young women who want to pursue their dreams?
The best piece of advice I can give is, listen to your inner voice and intuition above all else. Plenty of people will try to tell you why your dreams won’t work and tell you to just get a “sensible” job. These people are speaking from s place of fear; either fear for you because they genuinely care but can’t see your vision, or fear because their own dreams have gone unrealized. Learn to filter out the negativity and unwanted “advice”.
Nicole is hosting an event called The Hustlepreneur Series. To attend, please RSVP at email@example.com. Tell her I sent ya!
