Meet Our Professional Homegirl of the Week: Janine Cabrini

1. Social Handles (personal and business)

@janinecabrini, I use this one for everything!

2. What do you do?

Mon-Fri 9-5p I work in the finance industry and every other hour and day I am an Exec. Chef for my catering company Janine Cabrini & Co. (JC&CO)

3. What motivates you?

My motivation is pulled from wanting to do better and be better due to the sacrifices my family and ancestors endured to get me here. Furthermore, my race in general, I live for the progression of my people.

4. How do you balance with your career, side hustles, and your social life?

Balance within my life is maintained by writing everything down on a calendar big enough that I see every day, I pencil in EVERYTHING. If I have too much work going on then I say this day is dedicated to not answering emails, self-care, etc and I tune out. If I haven't made time for family, I pencil in a day, etc. Too much of one thing is never good!

5. What does Professional Homegirl mean to you?

Professional Homegirl resonates to me as I said in #4, BALANCE! Discovering and recognizing who you are as a woman, setting goals and taking steps to accomplish your dreams, all while maintaining genuine relationships that are genuinely for you and being that ideal individual to feed into lives around you.

6.What advice would you give to young women that want to pursue their dreams?

My advice I would give to younger girls are don't think you have time because you're young, if you know better do better no matter your age, applying that to working hard and researching your path in all aspects. Also, don't allow your insecurities and the people in your life cause you to dim your light. Start from where you are in your journey and work towards your goal, don't feel you have to get to a certain level before sharing and acting on your gifts, the universe will guide you. Reach for the stars and the galaxy, the world is yours and you DESERVE it!
