What's In My Makeup Bag?

Finally, it’s the summertime here in New York and it’s been hot as hell. If you don’t live in the tri-State area, it’s literally been 90 degrees almost every single day. I mean it’s so damn hot I barely want to wear any clothes let alone makeup. However, you know I love a good natural beat and to achieve that, here are my essentials that help keeps my face on my face and not on the ground.

Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF 50: I’ve been on this journey in achieving flawless skin for quite some time and in order to do that you must include sun protection in your regime. Growing up I was taught that black people don’t really need to apply SPF but that’s a lie. In order to prevent sun damages and minimize the longevity of dark spots, you have to protect your skin by applying SPF. Lord knows I’ve been tackling my dark spots for a very long time but I have seen a tremendous difference in the appearance of them since I’ve been using sunscreen. It’s super affordable and easy to use. I recommended applying your moisturizer with SPF last before you start with your makeup routine.

Tarte Clean Slate Timeless Smoothing Primer: I know a lot of people who don’t use primers and I’m like how is that even possible. I couldn’t imagine not including a primer in my daily skincare/makeup routine. Primer to makeup is like an engine to a car: you can’t do one without the other. I’m always on the search for a good primer and the good folks at Sephora recommended this one. This primer is so silky against the skin and creates the perfect base for the start of your makeup application. This is definitely one of my favorite products in my makeup bag and I strongly suggest you give this primer a try.

Estée Lauder 24 Hour Wear Foundation: This foundation is God's gift to us chile. I don’t know why it took me so long to finally purchase this but I’m so glad I did. This is perfect if you want medium to full coverage with a matte yet natural finish. Between working almost 8-10 hours a day at my day job and maintaining my social life, my face is literally the same throughout the entire day. I know I talked about other foundations that I’m obsessed with this one. Obsessed!  This foundation can weather any storm and have you thanking the makeup gods. Please go get swatch for your shade and a sample at Sephora ASAP.

Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder: Now remember when I tried out the foundation from the drugstore for the first time? If not click here. I’ve been dabbling in makeup from the drugstore here and there and I’ve been hearing a lot of good reviews about this loose finishing powder. When I tell you this is such a good yet super affordable powder that gets the job done! I’m obsessed with this item. I use this to bake under my eyes for a couple of seconds and boom! Under eyes are set and ready to go! I must admit I was very impressed with the results and this is my go-to powder for baking.

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder in Deep: Now this is a cult’s classic! There’s no way you can meet someone in the cosmetic industry that doesn’t swear by this Translucent Powder. I use the dark powder to set my makeup on the outside of my face. So once my face is complete, I gently pressed the sponge into my skin which will prevent any of my makeup transferring onto someone or something. Plus, this powder can last you for a very long time so a little does go a long way.

Urban Decay Setting Spray: If you want a setting spray that’s going to keep your makeup set all day, this is a must! Once I’m done with applying my makeup, I spray my face at least four to six times creating an X and T on my face. This helps keep my makeup intact with little to none touch-ups throughout the day.

I hope this list helps with the next time you go makeup shopping. Trust me on this one. Plus, have I steered you wrong yet in any of my advice? Comment below and tell me what's in your makeup bag?
