My Quick Getaway to Atlantic City!

For those of my readers that don’t live in the tri-state area, my goal is to create an experience through The Professional Homegirl for you to live through me and my adventures in  New York City; the city that's so nice, they named it twice. Okay I know that was corny but my NaNa used to always say that to me when I was a kid lol.

I noticed that Bae and I needed a change of scenery desperately. Even though we are both busy in our everyday lives, I suggested that we take a quick trip to Atlantic City. Now I know Atlantic City isn’t the first place that comes to mind when it comes to a quick getaway, but I promise you once you read this entire post, you are going to want to go there next.

We decided to take the Greyhound after church since Atlantic City is only a two-hour drive away from New York. Bae was annoyed with the fact that we were getting on a bus and not driving but I told him I wanted us to just relax without any hassles.

We stayed at The Borgata Casino and Spa Hotel and it was beyond beautiful. This hotel is a gem in Atlantic City! It has everything you need in it and much more. From gambling all your coints away to shopping in their boutique shops, what more could you ask for?  We stayed on the 29th floor and it was equipped with a king size bed that literally felt like it was heaven sent and a view to die for. Ugh and don't get me started on the bathroom. Big enough for both of our essentials, well mostly mines lol and the shower was everything. Bae did his thing by choosing this hotel for our stay. You go boy!

This is the Saffron Spaghetti I ordered at The Angeline Restaurant! So delicious!

After we got settled in we decided to grab dinner and drinks at The Angeline Restaurant. Italian inspired, The Angeline is an ode to classic Italian food that we all love to eat. Chef Michael Symon attention to detail is evident in the ambiance, the menu and the most importantly the taste in the food. I ordered the Saffron Spaghetti and yall when I tell you it was so freaking delicious like seriously. Just writing about it now is making my mouth so watery lol. Bae ordered the classic Fettuccine and that was delicious as well. I am so happy we tried something different and I do recommend this place to all my professional homegirls.

Now it wouldn't be a complete trip to AC without walking the boardwalk. I haven't walked the boardwalk since I was a little girl and it felt like a trip down memory lane. As we were walking, we noticed a small amusement park ahead of us and we just had to go see it.

One of my fondest memories as a kid was riding the carousel with my little sister inside of the Mall of Memphis (I think that was the name of the mall but don't quote me) and just having so much fun. I mean trips like this really make my heart smile and I was just so appreciative of creating this memory with Bae.

On our last day, we both wanted a really good breakfast. Either the restaurants were closed or we missed the cutoff time for breakfast, however, when in doubt look about. I google restaurants that served breakfast throughout the day and that was near our hotel and Kelsey & Kim's Southern Cafe was number one on the list. After we glanced through the menu and read the reviews, we both agreed to try it out.

As soon as we walked in, it felt like we were walking into someone's big momma house. We were greeted as if we were family and seated immediately with glasses of water and menus waiting for us. I did what most people do and look around at other people plates to see what they were eating. It was safe to say that we made the best decision. The food at Kelsey & Kim's restaurant was the best soul food I tasted in a while. THE BEST. I ordered a Belgium waffle, salmon cakes, and grits and bae ordered chicken and waffle, mac and cheese, sweet water cornbread, and eggs on the side.

I couldn't help but eat as soon as my food came out. I can't emphasize how delicious this food was and we made sure to tell everybody that we would be back! If you are ever in the area, please make sure to go support this black-owned business and tell them the kid sent ya! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Overall, this trip was much needed and we both had such an amazing time. Plus we didn't spend that much money either which is even better. If you are looking for a quick trip either with Bae or yourself, I so recommend Atlantic City. Have I steered you wrong yet sis?
