In the Hood Hollering Free Meek: My Trip to Philly!

Okay so I am finally back from a much-needed trip and I have so much to share with you guys. I just came back from Philly and it was such a fun trip. If you ever decide to visit Philadelphia for a quick getaway, you should definitely use this post for more insight on what to do and where to go. Bae and I did so much that I think it will be best if I broke it down into sections. So grab a snack and something to drink because this one is going to be a good one. Let's begin, shall we...

ACCOMODATION

I know I'm late in the game on this but recently I discovered a gem called Hotel Tonight. Hotel Tonight is an app you can use on your phone that helps you located hotel rooms that are in your area for a really good price. We were only in Philly for one night and there weren't many options to select from so we decided to go with Sheraton Philadelphia Hotel. This hotel is located in the heart of Philly and was very affordable for what we needed. The rooms were a little outdated but the bed was super comfortable. Like as soon as I laid down, I was knocked out. If you are looking for somewhere to stay and want to find a deal, I definitely recommend the app Hotel Tonight.

FOOD

For those of you that did not know this, I was born in New York but raised in Tennessee. With that being said, I love me some soul food. LOVEEE! Every time Bae and I go somewhere, we are always looking for something new and tasty to try. Click here to read about my trip to Atlantic City. We asked a couple of people for food options and everybody recommended Warmdaddy's. I mean how could you resist a place named Warmdaddy's, seriously.

As soon as we stepped inside of Warmdaddy's, I knew the food was good just by looking at the crowd. I never saw so many old women in one spot in my life. Well besides church but not at no restaurant. As we sat down, I noticed that they were preparing for live entertainment on the stage. Honestly, I felt like we were in an old jukebox restaurant somewhere in Louisana. We ordered our food and when I tell yall the food was on point! Plus they had an all you can eat crab leg special and yall know black folks love themselves some crab legs lol. I must admit, the food was so good and the live entertainment was amazing. I was just telling Bae how I want to drive back to Philly just for some Warmdaddy's.

BTW: Click here to see some of my favorite restaurants! If you are looking for something cute and new to try, you are in for a treat!

During our walk around Downtown Philly, we found this cute little chocolate store called Lores Chocolates. Since 1967, Lore's makes more than 100 variations of chocolate and are most of them are made in their basement downstairs. If anybody knows me, yall know I died and went to heaven. I love chocolate so much! I know I said I was going to cut back on chocolate, which I did, but I had to purchase something. I decided to try their white chocolate bar and ugh it was so delicious. If you are a chocolate lover like me, I recommend this place for you to stop by if you are ever in the area.

ENTERTAINMENT

The main reason why we went to Philly was to see my two favorite people perform, Beyonce' and Jay Z. On the Run 2 was EVERYTHING! When I realized Bae got us floor seat tickets, I almost cried. I never had floor seats before at any concert and you could only imagine how excited I was. If you haven't expereinced a Beyonce' or Jay Z concert before, you need to stop what you doing and find the nearest show to you. This concert was inspirational for me on so many levels that I was just taken away by everything. Between the visuals, the music, and Bey and Jay on stage together, it was just amazing. I could go on and on about my adoration for these two, but I think you get the point. OTR2 was black excellence at its finest.

Now you know I had to find an art exhibit before we left to come back home. We found The Fabric Workshop and Museum and man were we in for a treat. Ursula von Rydingsvard: The Contour of Feeling was such a unique exhibit to see. Known for her sculptures, Ursula is considered one of the most influential and celebrated sculptors of our time. If you ever get a chance to see her work, you will be amazed. I could go on and on at how amazed I was at her sculptures but I don't think my words would do it any justice. It is literally a sight to see.

Overall, Philly was such a good time and I will be going back soon. I'm starting to appreciate visiting states more so than ever and I can't wait for my next getaway! Mmmm where should the kid go next?
