LaQuan Smith NYFW SS 2019 Fashion Show

I had the pleasure of sitting front row at the LaQuan Smith Spring/ Summer 2019 Fashion Show and it was a sight to see. There were so many familiar faces in the audiences and I saw a couple of my favorite people such as LaLa Anthony, Kelly Rowland, Claire Sulmers, and that's just to name a few. Now before I begin with the deets from his fashion show, I think it is important to give you some insight on the man himself, LaQuan Smith.

Born and raised in Queens, LaQuan has been making designs since he was a teenager. Inspired by his grandmother, he didn't attend a prestigious fashion school like most, instead, he followed his instincts on what he thought his muses should wear. Years later, he has dressed Rihanna, Beyonce', Lady Gaga, and the Kim Kardashian- West, and that's just to name a few. The lesson for today is, always bet on yourself no matter what. Okay now back to the show.

Once the show started, I was in complete awe. I mean, his designs were so beautiful. His Spring/Summer 2019 Collection was inspired by women who created crimes, and it was evident throughout the entire show. Kinda felt like a good girl gone bad vibe. I noticed a few familiar faces walking in the show such as Winnie Harlow and Duckie Thot. Duckie opened the show in a dress covered in women's vintage mugshots of female criminals while Winnie closed the show wearing a beautiful red ruffle dress.

His collection was comprised of sexy yet sensual playful pieces that I think most women could wear. I know most of his pieces are quite daring but can be paired with a couple of staple pieces. How can anyone deny a woman that is dressed in LaQuan Smith? Like how Sway how? Ugh, I just couldn't get enough of the lace pieces either. In addition, he debuted his collaboration with luggage maker Spray Ground. This collaboration consisted of rolling luggage, fanny packs, and backpacks with mugshot printed stating Scammer on it. I thought it was pretty cool to see luggage on the runway since I never saw that before.

Overall, this was the perfect way for me to end my New York Fashion Week festivities. I am literally saving up for one of his dresses just to add it to my collection. To see more of his work, please click here.
